We now have eco friendly options for kitty litter. Reduce waste and help the environment by going green. “Clumping” kitty litter seems to be one of the key elements. You can eliminate plastic bags and reduce the amount of litter that is thrown out. There are so many choices now days that it is inexcusable to not go green.
Think about your pets. Is there a better way of caring for your pets that can have less of an impact on the environment?
Polluters love it. So does Wall Street and corporate-friendly environmental groups like the Environmental Defense Fund. The opposition, however, includes Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and Public Citizen. – revolution radio
It is a sad time for those who love the environment because what could have been a good bill, got high jacked by special interest groups and the Federal Govt. by including unconstitutional powers upon the people.
I am a Libertarian and do not like this power grab by the Federal Government. I believe that there are many simple things that states could do like banning plastic bags in stores and Federal tax credits to have people use foam insulation in their homes to save in fuel costs. Those two things alone would help clean up the earth. Unfortunately it looks like we won’t get an energy bill to pass unless they can find a way to become wealthy or powerful on simple things like this. The only way a bill can pass is if someone gets power or wealthy. This is so sad
If States don’t step up to the plate, the Federal Government will and not in the way that you think.
Would you do anything to force Americans to be “green”? Even give up your constitutional rights?
Don’t belive the lies coming from the federal Government and special interest groups. There are ways of becoming a more green nation without crapping on the Constitution of the United States of America.
I found this great video about eco-design. This interior designer’s goal is to spread the word of environmental living while providing eco-friendly luxury. A green and serene home is the goal. I did laugh when she called herself a “hardcore environmentalist” because she does yoga every day. OMG, LOL, ONYD, there it goes again. Okay, as I was saying… This is still a great eco-consumer video on designing your urban home. Now if you will excuse me I have an organic soy mocha latte frappuccino to sip on (because I’m a hardcore environmentalist you know).
Hint: if you are looking for an eco-friendly look that is cost effective and adds a beautiful to any room find a second hand night stand and paint with a low VOC paint and place a soy candle on it.
During construction she used LEED certified workers for the construction process. One of their techniques during the construction process was to have continuously running HEPA air filters in contained areas to decrease airborne particulate pollution.
Here are a few things on the eco-friendly interior design list:
Hand-knotted Vegetable Dye Wool Rugs for the floor. Turkistan area rugs are woven by nomads in the Turkistan region using traditional techniques passed on for generations. Coloring is a vegetable dye to give warmth of color and will fade to a heirloom look and feel
Recycled antiques and many other vintage pieces to give a classy feel yet still being environmentally friendly by recycling.
Solar shades with black out lining
Solar Shades and cellular shades significantly increase energy efficiency. They reject heat in the summer and keep heat in during the winter saving you energy costs.
Paintings from local artists made from natural materials for the walls are used.
Low VOC varnished wood floors. VOC stands for volatile organic compounds. Most VOC’s off gas toxic fumes that have been known to cause pollution in the environment as well as cause serious illness in humans and animals.
Original wood trim is stripped with non-caustic materials which takes longer but is a safer alternative.
Organic sheets and pillows are used in the bedroom. You can find 100% organic fair trade linens on the internet fairly easy.
Linoleum is used in the kitchen as an eco-friendly resource. Linoleum is a durable, biodegradable material that is comfortable, warm and quiet. Constructed from all natural ingredients, this flooring is a low-toxic flooring option.
Natural limestone counter tops are used in the kitchen. The decision to use a natural stone in your kitchen is an environmentally friendly choice to make when designing your kitchen.
All appliances are Energy Star rated (remember to look for the Energy Star label when shopping) Energy Star models are the most energy efficient in any product category, exceeding the energy efficiency minimums set by the federal government.
An eco-house is a house that is good for the environment. It is a house that is built with renewable resources. Watch as a woman guides preschooler Emily Yeung through an eco-house and increases her understanding in environmentally friendly activities.
This is Emily Yeung Learning About an Eco-House. The goal is for a preschooler to demonstrate an understanding and participation in environmentally friendly activities in the community and begin to identify substances that are harmful to the body and processes to contribute to a healthy environment.
This is an interesting tour an American eco-consciences household. Mother of 5 shows how she has changed her wasteful American consumer life for an eco-consumer life. The new “eco-consumer” culture is a growing trend in America. Green consumerism, Ethical Consumerism or Eco-Consumerism is defined as creating a culture of consumption with an ethical or environmental ideal behind it.
Rachel, the mother of five, takes us on a tour of her house, and the choices that she and her family have made in order to live more environmentally conscience lives.
